I have used Richard numerous times for motopacing. I found that the motopacing work allowed me to simulate
the stochastic nature of racing (VI), not to mention the pedal force / cadence relationships (QA), resulting in a power file that looks very much like a crit. Using the motopacing, I could get in a series of refresher courses of crit training before our District Crit Championships while coming off TT training (very non-crit specific) and without an actual crit race available for prep.
I also found that using Richard for motopacing was helpful in these situations:
- getting in some hard group riding effect when a group was not necessarily available
- doing additional road training after interval training
- on hot days, when he could carry many cold water bottles in his cargo bin
Richard is very enthusiastic about his work. He takes pride in optimizing the quality of rider's experience. He is safe and always picks a good, safe line on the road. His rig is set up for hauling bottles, spare wheels, food, and clothing that you peel off.
Oh, and did I say motopacing is a blast?
